And that’s a wrap for 2015 Expos.

The Peninsula Pet Expo was a fine way to end our social calendar for 2015. With Rosebud Beach as our backdrop, staff members Alison, Amanda, Naomi and Kylie manned the Society’s Marquee and for the day. We drew the attention of the kids by giving away free bubbles and balloons and talked to many locals about cat adoptions and Kitten Season.

Farmer Dave MC’d the event and local musicians entertained the kids with Peter Combe songs. We saw demonstrations by our old favourites, Howling Huskies and the disc dogs, and a Melbourne Dancing Troupe that danced with dogs. The event was attended by quite a few rescue organisations, including Edgar’s Mission, Pets Haven, Peninsula Cat Rescue,  The Australian Rat Fanciers Society, Birdlife Australia,  Project Hope Horse Welfare Victoria,  and Australian Working Dog Rescue, to name a few.

We feel it is important to have a presence at these expos, as it is giving us a chance to talk to the public and connect with, and expand our community.

Plus we just really love talking about cats!

We love you a Waffle lot!

To the Cat Protection Society team,

After adopting Waffles a couple of weeks ago, Dave and I just wanted to let you know he is settling in well to his new home. He is incredibly sociable and was making himself comfortable on Dave’s lap within 2 hours of arriving at his new home. We are delighted to have adopted him.

Thanks all. Keep up the good work!

Cheers,
Karen

Wallan Went Off!

Wallan Pet Expo was another successful day for the Cat Protection Society of Victoria. The community was very friendly and didn’t hesitate to talk to us and seemed interested in the work that CPS does. A few members of the public came to us and said they’ve adopted from us before and let us know how their CPS cat was going.

Our Face Painting was a hit with the kids, as always, and our biggest seller of the day was the lucky dips and Calendars.

Keith from Lyrebird Pet Furniture won our  great raffle prize, a Cat Hamper full of cat goodies.

We have one more Expo planned for the year, the Peninsula Pet Expo. Can’t wait to see you there!

Mitchell Pet Expo

Mitchell Pet Expo is shaping up to be an exciting day for pet lovers, with animal organisations around Melbourne taking part. Oscar’s Law, Edgar’s Mission,  Australian Working Dog Rescue, Save a Dog, and Ingrid’s Haven are amongst the participants. Food stalls (for both dogs and humans!) will satiate you throughout the day as you shop for your pet at Lyrebird Pet Furniture and Luna’s Cucina & Collars.

Keep the kids entertained throughout the day with a jumping castle, face painting and Mitchell Shire’s own Petting Zoo.

Cat Protection Society will be raffling off a cat-lover’s hamper (worth over $200) to help raise funds for our new shelter. For $2 per ticket (or $10 for 6), you go in the draw to win a hamper full of cat goodies; cat tunnel, cat igloo, food, toys, accessories, CPS merchandise and more! Tickets are available at the expo and the winner will be announced at the end of the day by Gold 104.3’s Craig ‘Huggy’ Huggins.

Senior Pets Month

“Old is in, seniors for the win!”

November is Seniors Pet Month. A month dedicated to shining a light on the benefits of our golden oldies. So stay tuned for cool cat facts, info on adopting our seniors, featured seniors and more!

Mia, our 11 year old, (and oldest cat currently for adoption) will help start us off with a few glamour shots she’s kindly decided to share with us.

Please read her following bio, mic in hand, as you imagine Mia walking down the cat walk…

“Mia is the black and white mistress of the Seniors Block. She loves her curves and fuller figure and says she wouldn’t change for “no man” . Mia is particularly fond of long nights on a lap, but you’ll have to wine and dine her first. Or dine and dine her. Mia says “in human years I’m only sixty. In the right lighting, after dark, I still get asked for ID”

Mia is available for adoption NOW! Call us on 8457 6500, or email info@catprotection, or visit us at 200 Elder St Greensborough to find out more!

Life after Stardom

sarabi11

We received some picture updates of Sarabi, and it seems this ‘timid cat’ is not so timid anymore! Our Nine Lives Cover Girl looks as though she’s enjoying an early retirement from the limelight; sleeping, eating and hanging out with her crew are the only things on her agenda. She’s got the life!

Read Sarabi’s initial update below her new pictures.

One of our more ‘timid’ cats Sarabi found her forever home last week, and we are thrilled! We got the following update not long after;

“Today Sarabi had her first explore of the house.  She did very well with meeting the others and is using her cat litter now.  In this photo she is looking out into the cat run”

We wish Sarabi and her new family a long and loving life together.

If you’ve adopted with us, send us your update! media@catprotection.com.au
