Dr. Peter shines light on Mandy, one of the cats CPS has worked hard to rehabilitate. Due to CPS’s efforts, Mandy has a second chance at finding her forever home.

Peter says;

Let me introduce you to Mandy. A domestic medium hair desexed female estimated to be about 8 years of age. Is Mandy her real name? Of course not. We have absolutely no idea what her real name is, but like most of the cats that come into the shelter, she was a stray.

So why did we call her Mandy? When she arrived at the shelter, she was in a pretty bad state; she was limping on her front left leg, due to a suspected radial nerve paralysis. She had a broken upper right canine, which had lacerated her lower lip, and she also had a broken jaw, otherwise known as a mandibular symphysis. Hence the name ‘Mandy’.

We treated Mandy with fluids, pain relief, antibiotics and lots of TLC. She had to eat soft foods and be syringe fed, but with each passing day her injuries improved. Now she’s fit for adoption; her broken canine has been removed, her broken jaw and lacerations have healed and her leg injury has also been resolved, so she can walk and play normally.

The cause of her injuries still remain a mystery, though we suspect she either fell from a large height, or was possibly hit by a vehicle.

So if you are interested in adopting Mandy, come down and say hello. She’s very affectionate but would probably best suit a one-cat household, as she likes to be the centre of attention.
